Album of the Week: FaltyDL - A Nurse To My Patience

Album of the Week: FaltyDL - A Nurse To My Patience

Shapeshifting producer’s sixth album is his most sonically diverse, embracing everything from punk to folk + new releases from Gold Panda, Winston Surfshirt, The Black Dahlia Murder, Christine and the Queens and more

For the last 15 years, Brooklyn-based producer Drew Lustman has been making some of the most interesting electronic dance music across a range of genres as FaltyDL, embracing everything from dubstep and UK Garage to jungle and techno - and an amalgamation of everything in between, on labels like Planet Mu, Ninja Tune, AUS, Swamp 81 and more, including his own Blueberry Records imprint.

A true musical chameleon who refuses to be defined by one sound or genre, this has never been more apparent than on FaltyDL’s sixth studio album, A Nurse To My Patience, that sees Lustman eschewing electronic dance music as a core focus, with elements of indie rock, psych folk and post-punk shining through across the record’s twelve tracks.

Featuring a number of talented collaborators to help shape Lustman’s vision, A Nurse To My Patience features the likes of Julianna Barwick, Mykki Blanco and Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) and more, notable on a FaltyDL album as it’s the first to feature any guests at all.

A watershed moment in a career that’s already had a couple, A Nurse To My Patience shows off Lustman’s skills as not only a producer, but also as a musician, multi-instrumentalist and composer capable of crafting just whatever the hell sounds he wants - and we can’t wait to hear where he goes next.
