LAKYN's West gets a rad new video and Alice Ivy remix ahead of Oz headline dates

The NZ-based artist is having a stellar year.

Following on from the recent release of his fantastic lasest single West, New Zealand-based artist LAKYN has unveiled an epic new video clip for it, along with a remix from one of Australia's most exciting emerging artists - Alice Ivy. For the video clip, the future-soul tune finds the LAKYN dealing with a tiny bionic cat, visually representing two sides of the artist facing off against himself: "We don't grow when things are easy. We grow when we are faced by a bionic dancing cat in the middle of the road. I always pictured a Wild West Tarentino'esque theme in my head but came to the conclusion that a cowboy hat and a horse was a bit limiting. 70's disco music vids from Earth Wind & Fire and Boney M inspired the green screen shots while Christopher Walken dancing in the music video for Weapon Of Choice and the video for Indian Thriller is what made me a shameless dancer and where a few of my terrible dance moves are from."

For Alice Ivy's remix, it provided the Melbourne-based producer the chance to showcase a different side of herself as an artist, and the results are intriguing to the say the least: "Lakyn's vocal tone is phenomenal, I wanted to challenge myself by recreating West into a dance track. I spent more time on drums and the rhythmic elements of the remix, keeping the beat unpredictable and exciting. I really enjoyed working on this and I hope people dig it too."

Having just wrapped up a huge 17-show support run for Vera Blue, LAKYN is playing a few solo shows kicking off next week, check the dates below:

Fri 13 Oct - Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
