Premiere: King Ibis - Patience

Boorloo/Perth-quartet return with an atmospheric, swelling new cut of indie-pop, take a listen a day ahead of release

After releasing their latest single Honeymoon Phase back in March  and ahead of a 3-date W.A. run next month, Boorloo-based indie-faves King Ibis are back with the enthralling sounds of Patience, out August 25 but premiering on Pilerats today.

Instantly drawing you in with hypnotically reverbed guitars, vocalist Nadene Burchell’s ethereal vocals soon hover into the mix, with Patience slowly building and showing a bit of its namesake. As the captivating composition continues to build with swirling synths and samples, we’re greeted by laidback rhythm section before continuing to up the ante to a wild climax and striking resolution that satisfyingly fades out with the same reverb it opened with.

Speaking on the inspiration behind Patience, the band explain "'Patience' takes you through the confusion, frustration and rage of finding out a rumour had been circulated about you by someone you believed to be a friend. A plea to understand and be understood, the beginning attempts to open dialogue with the betrayer. In a final roar of all-consuming anger, any patience that remained has been spent and the song draws to a moody, sultry close."

Patience comes ahead of a 3 show run for the band in late September we’re they’ll be playing shows in Perth and Margaret River - dates below and give yourself a little patience:
