Introducing Yoko-Zuna and their exciting blend of hip hop and electronica

Their single Yes, just received a cracking video clip too.

Electronic/hip hop outfit Yoko-Zuna formed in Auckland a couple of years ago, and have been consistently putting on epic live shows with strong releases ever since. Most recently that has been the release of their Luminols EP, featuring the track Yes feat. Heavy & Randa, which just got an epic new video clip. We dig it, a lot, and sent the group a few questions to help us get to know 'em a little better:

Tell us about about yourselves?

We’re four full time musicians who all come from different musical and cultural backgrounds, living in Auckland.

What’s the vibe music-wise?

It’s hard to narrow down, but there are elements of hip hop, electronic and progressive music all pulled into one.

Writing/recording process:

A lot of our tracks just come from jamming for hours on end. Then we siphon through what we have done, hopefully come up with something good to build off of, and go from there.

Can you tell us about your new EP, Luminols?

We were lucky enough to record the EP at the Red Bull Studios in Auckland. On top of that, we were lucky enough to feature some of our favourite vocalists from NZ. It’s five tracks that show our different styles, and all bring something different as a sound.

What’s the rest of the year have in store?

We’re currently working on our new album, and will have it out later this year. We’ll also be playing a bunch of shows around NZ after the release, and then hopefully making it over to Australia for some shows at some point.

Where can we hear more of your music?

BANDCAMP, SPOTIFY, APPLE MUSIC, and especially YOUTUBE where we’ve got some videos we’re really proud of.
